BLOG: Fighting my depression with weight training.

After a long break I am finally back in the gym! I honestly cannot explain how much I have missed being able to lift weights and run on a treadmill. It has only been a week and I feel about 100x better than I did just a few short days ago. My emotional and mental health seems to be in extra high spirits as well, that might have something to do with the chemicals released in the brain during physical exertion but I’m not a doctor so who knows… Well these guys that’s who!

Exercise seems to be my best weapon in my ongoing fight against depression and stress in my life. I know it might not work for everyone but I do believe that a healthy body leads to a healthy state of mind. I’m glad I am making steps to improve my life even if it is small steps that are in the right directions. Now if I could conquer my overwhelming social fears.

I just wanted to throw this up for any of you who are dealing the same problems that I am. Remember you are never alone in your fight against depression, there are people who are willing to help or lend an ear for you. All you have to do is ask and if you feel like you don’t have anyone I’m always an email or a tweet away. Don’t be afraid to ask or talk with someone about how you feel. Stay positive my friends and hold your head up!
